MIXED MEDIA SKETCHBOOK TECHNIQUES INCLUDING PAPER LITHOGRAPHY

11-12 January FULL

Kick start your creativity for the new year.

Using paper lithography, acrylic resist, ink, bleach and stencilling to name just a few of the techniques covered, create several four fold artists books with your experiments. At the end of the workshop you will have created several books exploring layering techniques using traditional and non traditional materials.

REDUCTION LINO PRINTING. NEW FOR 2025

25 January

Spend the day extending your lino printing skills using the reduction lino printing technique. Learn to design the image, print the lino and register 3 colours. Chine collee will also be added to and you will take home several prints.

Cost £120 to include most materials.

PRINTMAKING MASTER CLASS. FULL

7-9 February

This 3-day Master Class will cover 3 printmaking techniques and how to combine them. At the end of the course you will take home an artist’s book of your experiments for future reference. Over 3 days we will explore dry point, collagraph and lino to make a suite of hybrid prints.

PAPER LITHOGRAPHY ON FABRIC

1 March

Using basic photocopies as a printmaking plate, explore paper lithography for the day on fabric.

Get to grips with this flexible process and print on a variety of textile surfaces. Create a stash of samples to use in your fabric projects.

Cost £100 to include most materials. Bring black and white photocopies.

ADVANCED GELLI PLATE TECHNIQUES & PRINTING ON FABRIC

Friday 28 March

Cost £100 to include paper and paint. Bring your own Gelli Plate and roller.

SKETCHBOOK MASTER CLASS. Includes Gum Arabic transfer.

3-5 April Thursday- Saturday

Kick start your creativity by working in a sketchbook.

Spend 3 days making rich layered pages using ink, bleach, acrylic and paper lithography printmaking. Using a humble black-and-white photocopy as your ‘plate’, you can make prints of photographic imagery as part of developing mixed media pages.

An ideal workshop to learn how to get over that blank page syndrome. 

Cost £300 to include a small sketchbook and most materials 

(Please bring strongly contrasting toner photocopies).

DRY POINT WITH A COLLAGRAPH TWIST

Friday 9 May

Start your printmaking journey here. Using plastic and tapes make a series of intaglio prints using very basic materials. Print onto paper and fabric learning different inking styles.

Cost £120 to include most materials.

FABRIC BOOK TO INCLUDE PAPER LITHOGRAPHY

24-25 May

Using paper lithography, acrylic resist, mono print, stitching and stencilling to name just a few of the techniques covered, create several excitingly textural textile books. At the end of the workshop you will have created at least 2 fabric books exploring layering techniques using traditional and non traditional textile materials.

COLLAGRAPHS ON BOTANICAL CONTACT PRINTS

28-29 June

Make interesting substrates with botanical contact prints on paper and fabric. Leaf and rust marks in delicious natural tones act as a gentle background to intaglio prints made later in the workshop.

Using these interesting natural backgrounds print simply made collagraphs using glue and card. Add chine collee and blended inking to the techniques learnt in this busy weekend workshop.

CYANOTYPE WEEKEND

5-6 July

This intensive weekend will introduce you to the basic theory and practice of cyanotype on a variety of papers then show you how the colouring can be toned and changed to create one off imagery. Explore, basic cyanotype, double exposures and wet cyanotype. The weekend will stretch your thinking into the ways this process can be made your own and you will leave with a portfolio of samples and armed with all the information needed to take this process further.

PAPER LITHOGRAPHY ON FABRIC

Friday 26 September

Using basic photocopies as a printmaking plate, explore paper lithography for the day on fabric.

Get to grips with this flexible process and print on a variety of textile surfaces. Create a stash of samples to use in your fabric projects.

Cost £100 to include most materials. Bring black and white photocopies. Copies can be made at 20p each.

COLLAGRAPHS USING PLASTER AND TEXTURE. Includes viscosity inking.

11-12 October

There are many ways to make a collagraph plate. This workshop will focus on using found textures pressed leaves, flowers, rubber stamps and textured wall papers, pressed into plaster to create textural plates. Together with glue to create tonal contrasts explore this flexible plate making process. You will also learn several ways to ink the plates culminating in viscosity inking. After 2 days you will have a series of exciting and experimental prints.

VISCOSITY MONOPRINTING

Friday 7 November

Spend the day exploring a magical mono printing technique that relies on a bit of ink chemistry. This workshop takes mono printing to the next level.

COLLAGRAPHS OUT OF THE BOX

15-16 November

Spend an energetic weekend making and printing collagraph plates made with recycled packaging and glue. Explore your consumerism through print. Once the plates are made we will explore several inking techniques including over printing and chine collee.

GELLI PLATE TECHNIQUES & PRINTING ON FABRIC

Friday 28 November

Get to grips with your Gelli plate and create a range of collage papers and printed textiles to use in future creative projects.

Cost £100 to include paper and paint. Bring your own Gelli Plate and roller.

All courses are suitable for beginners and experienced artists.

The weekend courses start at 10.00am till 4.00pm.

Bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided.

Printmaking is a messy business so old clothes and aprons are advised.

All course fees must be paid 1 week before the course start date.
